Cervical Cancer Outcome and Tumor-Associated Macrophages: Research Evidence
نویسندگان
چکیده
Inflammation is a key factor in cancer promotion. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), as part of the tumor microenvironment, are often associated with progression tumors and worse prognosis many cancers, namely on cervical cancer. This work exhaustively summarizes conclusions different studies published concerning TAMs function cancer, from vitro using cell lines to clinical perspective (histological samples-based studies). Most have led conclusion that increased density directly related severity malignant lesion. Additionally, normally polarized into an M2 phenotype, benefiting promoting progression, resulting disease outcome. The microenvironment also highly critical contributor not only influences natural history but modulates specific immune response.

Co-evolution of tumor-associated macrophages and tumor neo-vessels during cervical cancer invasion
Considering the crucial significance of the tumor microenvironment in cancer development and progression, the present study aimed to investigate the changes in macrophages and angiogenesis during the cervical cancer (CC) progression process from chronic cervicitis to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grades I-III (CIN I-III) to CC. This investigation included quantitative analysis and assessme...
متن کاملP157: Periostin Recruits Tumor Associated Macrophages in Glioblastoma Multiform
Glioblastoma multiform (GBM) is the most common and lethal type of primary brain tumors with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Treatment options are limited and ineffective in most of the cases. Epidemiological studies have shown a link between inflammation and glioma genesis. In addition, at the molecular level, pro-inflammatory cytokines released from activated microglia can increa...
متن کاملTumor Associated Macrophages in Kidney Cancer
Tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) are an important element of tumor stroma. They originate from blood monocytes attracted by chemokines and cytokines produced by tumor cells and, being instructed by tumor microenvironment, develop into potent tumor-supporting cell population. TAMs were demonstrated to directly stimulate tumor cell proliferation and to promote angiogenesis. Further TAMs provid...
متن کاملCancer Progression Related with Tumor-associated Macrophages
Tumor-associated macrophages are one of the main populations of inflammatory cells in cancers that favor tumor cell growth and survival. Tumor-derived factors such as VEGF-A and CSF-1 recruit the macrophages in tumor micro environment and alter their phenotype in M1 to M2 or tumor-associated macrophages by secretion of several cytokines including IL-4, IL-13 and VEGF-A. In return tumor-associat...
متن کاملTumor-Associated Macrophages Contribute to Tumor Progression in Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death in women with gynecological malignancy and improvements in current treatments are needed. As with many other solid cancers, the ovarian tumor microenvironment is emerging as a key player in tumor progression and a potential therapeutic target. The tumor microenvironment contains several non-malignant cell types that are known to contribute to tumor p...
